Physical Education News:

Girls in grades 1 & 2 have completed a series of physical fitness tests including: sit-ups, jump rope, agility jump, shoulder walk (modified push-up), and shuttle run.  All tests are for 30 seconds except jump which is one minute.  The girls will take a post test in January to see how much they can improve. Girls are encouraged to practice at home.

Girls in grades 1 & 2 are practicing jump rope skills.  If your child is able to jump consecutively with rhythm for ten jumps, they should begin practicing the criss cross skill.  Kindergarten will begin to jump rope in January.

All classes will begin basic tumbling skills this second quarter and also some simple dances.  Kindergarten checklist items include: running, skipping, hopping, walking up and down stairs with an alternate foot pattern and bouncing and catching a ball.  These are also skills that pre-schoolers are practicing as well. These are all skills that can be practiced at home.  The best way to teach a child to skip is to hold their hand and skip with them so that they can feel the rhythm.

Girls in grades 1 & 2 should wear their shorts under their school uniform so that they can change in the gym.  Students are not permitted to change in restrooms, it takes too much time away from class.  Your assistance in this matter is greatly appreciated.

If any parent has any individual exercise mats that are in good shape, I am looking for donations.  These are easier for the girls to use for sit-ups instead of getting the big mats off the wall.

As always, thank you for your support.  Our girls are the best!
